Prepare the Way

Hello! How are you?

I am doing great! I have an ultra detailed list of what I want to do each day so I can be 'ready' for Christmas. I also do not want Advent to fly right by without enjoying the season of preparing. So during my busy 'to-doing', I have space to enjoy the the days leading up to Christmas.

I've been missing Frodo, but not missing his round the clock medical care (and the endless worrying). I am so grateful we have Holly (the cat) who is thoroughly enjoying Frodo NOT being here. She loves being number one!! I am glad she can be number one now. It's been seven years since I found her as a little kitten on the side of the road (half dead, half alive) as I was driving home. We named her Holly because it was early December.

My sister bought me this beautiful wool mini bundle collection for my birthday which was a few weeks ago and I've had fun pouring over the hat pattern possibilities which are endless. I hope to start something soon but it will be a week or so because I cannot decide.

How are your plans coming along if you celebrate this time of year?

  1. It seems to take a while to decide what to do with special yarn. Because it is special, we want to knit something wonderful with it. Here's hoping you find a pattern you love!

  3. That's beautiful yarn! Can't wait to see what you do with it!
Space to enjoy sounds like the best item on any Holiday to-do list.

  4. Frodo was a very special friend. He'll always be in your heart and be missed. I guess that is the one downside of having pets. They leave us far too soon. I was happy to hear that Holly is doing well. I can't believe you have had her that long.

Your yarn bundle is so pretty. My LYS has those and I think she has a hat pattern specifically for that "bundle".

Enjoy Advent and your knitty downtime.

  6. What a sweet photo of Frodo (the tongue!!). I cannot believe you have had Holly for 7 years...how is that possible? Your mini yarns from your sister are so pretty. Good luck finding the PERFECT pattern. We are still waiting on the baby.....

  7. I love your posts and thank you for sharing your life. I retired in June of 2023 but went back to school because they had no teachers. My daughter said my retirement party was a scam. After a bit of soul searching, more Rheumy visits....I am going to be absolutely done in June of this year......I want to enjoy life like you do. Advent, knitting, reading, taking classes for fun......I appreciate you so much!!

  9. You are always so organized but in a very good way. We returned home late this past Thursday and Friday I worried about how I was going to get everything done this month. Then today I took a deep breath and decided to focus on the season and enjoy each day and the preparations but also take some quiet time each day.

Sorry to hear about Frodo. Last I remember, he was unwell.
